NY Coed is a little stricter than other Leagues about replacement rules. In part, it is to guard against teams bringing in ringers on any given week, and thereby unbalancing the season. More importantly, it is to ensure that all registered and paid players have as much playing time as possible and are not short-changed by unregistered players. While the NY Coed representative in attendance will have a list of official players, we're not going perform a roll call prior to each game. There may be loopholes in the rules, and the more enterprising may seek to use them to their advantage, but we hope teams enter into the general spirit of the League. So, what are these rules? Well... - If a team has 7 or above registered players in attendance, NO non-registered players are allowed unless it means a team would be competing a player down - for example, in the instance of 6 male & 1 female being in attendance, a team could add a female player - If a team has 6 registered players in attendance, they are allowed to add 1 sub. In the instance of 6 males being in attendance, a team can add 2 female players - If a team has 4 or 5 registered players in attendance, they are allowed to add 2 non-registered players - If a team has 3 or less registered players in attendance, the game is declared a forfeit and the result recorded as a 3-0 loss. There will always be the opportunity to scrimmage for those in attendance NOTE 1: Non-Registered players include outfield player(s) and/or goalkeepers NOTE 2: Substitutes can come from other teams within the League NOTE 3: All Substitutes must be wearing a similarly-colored shirt to that of your team - we won't be carrying extras at the field NOTE 4: If you believe the opposition is fielding an illegal player, please advise the referee or NY Coed representative immediately - and "immediately" doesn't mean when you go a goal behind. We will then double-check and either confirm the players registration or remove him/her from the field NOTE 5: Permanent replacements (due to injury or withdrawal) can only be made up to and including the 6th game of the regular season. After this, it's lockdown. And a team must complete the final regular season game and, possibly, the play-offs with what they have. If permanent replacements are to be made, please advise the League by email prior to your game. NOTE 6: Teams who persistently field ringers will be penalized, either with the docking of points or in severe instances, removal from the League. NOTE 7: It's only coed recreational soccer. Yes, you want to win. But if it's a win-at-all-costs mentality then perhaps you're better suited to another League.
