How Do I Contact The League?
If you have a specific question that hasn't been dealt with below, feel free to drop an email to info @ nycoedsoccer. com

In addition, there will be an NY Coed representative at the field during every game - again, feel free to approach and ask.

Where Do We Play?
We play in Brooklyn (Cobble Hill/Carroll Gardens and Williamsburg), Manhattan (Chelsea, Chinatown, Hell's Kitchen and Murray Hill) and, during the Spring/Summer, on Randall's Island.

Exact locations are confirmed upon the opening of a specific Division's registration.

Do I Need A Team To Sign Up?
Individual players are more than welcome in our Leagues. Players will either form part of a "free agent' roster or be assigned to a team in need of additional players.

Can I Sign Up With A Group Of Friends, But Not Enough To Make A Team?
Depending on availability, NY Coed makes the utmost effort to place friends on the same team. When submitting your registration form, please highlight your colleagues in the section marked 'Special Instructions'.

Note: To ensure everyone is grouped together, it is important that players register promptly.

How Many Players Should Be On A Roster?
For the 5v5 and 6v6 Leagues, the minimum roster requirement is 9; for 7v7 it is 11; and for 8v8 it is 12.

This is taking into account the need for game substitutions and the weeks where a player or two may not be able to attend.

How Many Women Should Be On Our Roster?
In the Leagues that are 5v5, 6v6 and 7v7, 2 female players (excluding goalkeeper) are required on the outfield at all times. In our Brooklyn 8v8 Leagues, 3 female players (excluding goalkeeper) are required on the outfield.

With this in mind, if you wishing to enter a team, the roster should take this, and the need for subs, into account.

Can We Pay A Single Team Fee Instead Of Paying Individually?
We are happy for teams to provide one check to cover the fees for a team of players. We don't require this, however, as we know it can be a burden for a single player to pay an entire team fee up front. That's why we make it easy on you by allowing for individuals to register and pay on their own.

What Level Of Skill Or Competitiveness Can I Expect?
Remember, it is coed recreational soccer and, therefore, each player is expected to exhibit the spirit appropriate to such competition. Some of our Leagues, such as Thursday Advanced and Friday Manhattan D1, are primarily for players of intermediate and above experience; while others such as Friday Manhattan D3 & D4, Saturday Outdoor Championship and Sunday Indoor Championship are for beginner through intermediate players.

Many of the other Leagues, however, are "Open", which means you will be playing with and playing against players of varying abilities.

If you are unsure which League is appropriate for you, feel free to ask.

How Do I Know Who Is On My Team?
Leading up to the start of the season, all players & teams will receive the League Introductory e-mail. This contains relevant information for the weeks ahead, as well as the names and e-mail addresses of your teammates. You will then have the opportunity to correspond and communicate directly.

How Do I Know Where My League Or Soccer Class Is Being Held?
We hope it's been apparent during the registration process and the venue will have been highlighted within the Introductory Email that is issued prior to the season's start.

The location will also appear on the relevant schedule page. If you're still unsure, you can contact us by e-mail [info @ nycoedsoccer . com ] to ask.

What Surface Do We Play On? What Footwear Is Required?
OUTDOOR fields are turf. The ideal footwear, therefore, is turf shoes, although flat indoor shoes, sneakers and molded cleats are acceptable.

INDOOR fields are either a rubberized or the traditional hardwood gym floor. Flat indoor soccer shoes or sneakers are recommended. Turf shoes and cleats are inappropriate and not allowed.

Do I Need Any Special Equipment?
Shinguards are MANDATORY. You will not be allowed to play without them. Our referees will ask you to leave the field if you are found to be without shinguards. Beware!

Does NY Coed Soccer Provide Uniforms?
We provide t-shirts for players in our leagues. We ask that teams wear their official team shirt to all games. Choice of color for shorts, socks, etc. are at the discretion of the individual player or team. We only ask they be easy on the eye and appropriate for athletic play.

If a team wishes to be a specific color, they should advise the League prior to the season. We'll see what we can do...

Can My Team Use Our Own Personalized Uniforms?
Yes, just let us know in advance so we can assign colors to the rest of the League appropriately. Even if you are wanting to wear your own jerseys, you will still be supplied with official NY Coed shirts. Should your uniform color clash with another's, we will ask that you make an alternative arrangement for that week's game.

How Long Are The Games?
Duration of games vary, dependent upon which League you are playing in. Typically, the Manhattan & Brooklyn (Indoor) Leagues are 42 minutes, while Brooklyn Outdoor and Manhattan (Hell's Kitchen) is 50 minutes.

What Times Do Games Or Classes Typically Kick-Off?
Each League and class has varying kick-off times. Please check the appropriate schedule for further information.

Please note: The times listed on the schedule are not approximate. Games & Classes will start promptly and we recommend you arrive at least 10 minutes in advance in order to be changed and ready to go.

Are Referees Provided?
NY Coed Soccer provides the referees, all of whom are officially registered with the appropriate US Soccer organizations.

How Many Games Are There In A Season?
This is dependent upon the format of the specific League, as well as your team's success. But everyone is guaranteed a minimum of eight games.

How Long Is The Season?
Again, this is dependent upon the format of the specific League, but typically the season will last 9-11 weeks.

Of course, for the Outdoor Leagues there is always the possibility of weather-related postponements. These games will be re-arranged, thus extending the duration of the season.

Does NY Coed Soccer Play In Inclement Weather?
NY Coed Soccer assesses whether to proceed with a scheduled kick-off depending on field and safety conditions. We do play in rain but will cancel if a field is flooded. We do not play in lightening and thunder or if a field is covered with snow or ice.

On a day with questionable weather, please call our game status hotline at 347-534-6017.

How Does Subbing & Bringing In Replacements Work?
We will supply full details on subs and replacements in the Introductory Email. However, it should be noted that NY Coed is a little more stringent than other Leagues.

At every game, an NY Coed representative will have a list of registered players and only these will be eligible to participate, unless of specific circumstances (again covered in Introduction).

In part, it is to guard against teams bringing in ringers and unbalancing the League. But more importantly, it is to ensure that all registered and paid players have as much playing time as possible and are not short-changed by those not officially in the League.

What Do We Win?
NY Coed will provide a team and individual trophies to the League winners. In addition, there is also a trophy for the League's top goalscorer - we collect the scorers after each game.

Winners will subsequently appear on the Roll Of Honor!

Are There Organized Practices Or Scrimmages?
There are no official NY Coed soccer sponsored team practice or scrimmage sessions.
